The Pre-Production Process

As a producer, I work in close harmony with the band or artist. It is important for me to find out what the artist wants out of their recording. What is their vision and how can I help to craft the best possible product? Before going into the studio, I like to first hear the song(s) in the rehearsal room. Juxtaposing perspectives, that of the artist and my own, can provide valuable insights into the possibilities of a song.

The Recording Process

My experience as a recording engineer, and my knowledge of instruments and equipment, comes as an advantage during the actual recording process. A particular ‘sound’ is essential. Think of all the albums you like: each will have a specific ‘sound’ that makes that album stand out from others. Together, we’ll search for your sound, inspired by one of your favorite albums, or creating something new altogether. Sometimes, that may include trying something that eventually doesn’t work, but that is part of the process of finding the perfect sound.
